From the ground up, BMW electric vehicles are designed to keep you and your passengers safe and protected on Tigard roads, from alerts and information to collision mitigation and parking assistance. Here’s a quick overview of the BMW EV safety features you’ll find in most current models.
Active Blind Spot Detection: If a vehicle drifts into your blind spot, your BMW EV will illuminate a visual cue in your side mirrors. Your EV will also vibrate the steering wheel if you begin to move into a lane when another vehicle is in your blind spot.
Lane Departure Warning: Your BMW EV will use audiovisual cues to alert you if you begin to drift beyond your lane markings.
Frontal Collision Warning with City Collision Mitigation: If you are driving up to 35 miles an hour when a vehicle suddenly stops in front of you, your BMW EV will alert you with visual cues. In certain cases, it will also apply the emergency brake (see below).
Parking Assistance Package: The Parking Assistance Package is an available package on BMW electric vehicles that includes features like a high-definition surround camera, a Back-Up Assistant with automated reversing, and a Parking Assistant for navigating narrow parking spaces.
Highway Assistant: When driving on the freeway at speeds up to 85 miles an hour, the BMW EV Highway Assistant will take over and allow for safe hands-free driving.
Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection: BMW’s Automatic Emergency Braking System works with the Frontal Collision Warning and applies the emergency brake if a vehicle, pedestrian, or road debris appears immediately in front of your vehicle.
Rear Cross-Traffic Alert: If you’re backing out of a driveway onto a street with cross traffic, your BMW EV will alert you if traffic is incoming so you know when it’s safe to pull out onto the road.
